Online Cenotaph

The age at which New Zealand service personnel died. The youngest are two 15-year-olds: Thomas Dennis Burke and Edward Hugh Walls were aboard the SS Port Hunter when it was torpedoed on the July 11, 1945.

A sampling of enlistment dates. The second spike, just before Christmas 1916, corresponds with the introduction of conscription.

During the First World War, 10,000 horses were transported from New Zealand. Using data from Cenotaph we can see that approximately 30 per cent of all troopship cargo was equine.
